Recipe Box: Matcha Latte Mix

You don’t need to pay coffee shop prices, you just need a few ingredients, a bowl, and a whisk to make this luscious drink mix!

I don’t know about you, but as soon as the days are longer and the sun becomes warmer, I’m ready to switch it up from hot drinks in the AM to something iced and refreshing. Enter the matcha latte - it has a lovely color as it’s derived from green tea leaves that have been pulverized into a fine powder.

Instead of steeping your tea, this powdered option allows you to take it in a whole form which provides a rich array of nutrients including: vitamins A, C, E, and K as well as minerals such as magnesium, potassium, calcium, and phosphorus.

Matcha powder with a traditional whisk

While there are a plethora of pre-packaged matcha latte mixes available at places like Amazon, I enjoy making my own mix from ingredients I love and trust to support my personal wellness goals (and my budget!).

MATCHA LATTE MIX

Ingredients:

1 lb. Collagen Peptides

1 lb. Japanese Matcha Powder

1 lb. Powdered Coconut Milk

1 oz. Vanilla Bean Powder

Instructions:

(1) Dump everything into a very large mixing bowl, and use a whisk to blend until everything is uniform and evenly distributed. Store in an airtight container for 4 weeks, or in the fridge for 6 weeks.

(2) HOW TO USE:

Hot Version:

Bring 4 oz of water to a boil, or at least very hot. Whisk 1 tablespoon of the mix into the water thoroughly. Heat 4 oz of milk (any variety you enjoy), then pour everything together

Chilled Version:

Bring 4 oz of water to a boil, or at least very hot. Whisk 1 tablespoon of the mix into the water thoroughly. Pour 4 oz of milk (any variety you enjoy) over ice, then add the matcha/water mixture over the top.

NOTES:

  • We’ve used multiple brands depending on what local stores have available, but we’ll link options for each ingredient so you can order them online if needed - collagen peptides, matcha powder, powdered coconut milk, vanilla bean powder.

  • This recipe makes enough for 50 [one tablespoon each] servings.

  • The nutrition facts are amazing:

    8g carbs, 4g fat, 14g protein, 5g fiber (macros)

60mg calcium, 167 mg potassium (micros)

  • This makes a GREAT gift. We’ve portioned it out into little labeled bags for others to try, and we’ve also added 30 servings to a jar and gifted it to a friend. The options are limitless!
